Car Service ~ Major :(

my car so far has clocked approximately 103,500 Km in the space of 4 years++ and i bought it in for a routine service just now... all these while, i have been servicing my car at Proton Authorized Car Service Center but then since it has clocked over 100,000 Km already... it's time i depart from them and go out for normal workshop which will be cheaper in long run...

my rear absorber already dead for quite some time and i've yet to have them changed, so today is the best day since i'm on leave... so i drove my car over the our family car workshop and have it in for a routine car service... after some analyzing done by the trusted foreman whom is also the shop owner, i've decided to have both the rear absorber change and a new set of clutch...

the entire service session took almost 6 hours to complete and the bill...
  • Tyre Balancing (On Wheel and Off Wheel) : MYR 24
  • Computer Alignment (Front + Rear) : MYR 24
  • Camber Adjustment (3 Wheel) : MYR 54

Samsung Galaxy S ~ Arrived via Maxis

i was busy with my laptop screen when my colleague (the one who bought the HTC Desire) suddenly quote: 'Deng!'...

i turned to him as he just sitting next to me and saw him pointing at Maxis website, on a small advert... in that small advert, it says 'Samsung Galaxy S Ready For Launch'... ops... hahaha... as he click into the advert, the RRP price stated there is a whooping MYR 2,599... but then that's the RRP and Maxis hasn't reveal the mobile carrier plan figure yet until they have officially launched it...

the launch date printed on the site is set to be June 25th, meaning this Friday...

A Lucky Day

i was walking to my car after work and i saw multiple cars were clamped as i inch closer to mine... luckily this morning when i parked my car, i did scratched the parking coupon instead of just leaving it un-scratched, displayed on the dashboard... i just had that feeling that morning that they are gonna inspect this parking section and i was right... ;p

see the picture on the left... the car in front of me also kena liao... a lucky day to save MYR 50... >:)

HTC Desire

a colleague of mine wanted to change his handphone and he's an existing Nokia user... at first he was set to change his phone to a newer version of Nokia phone but then after i've introduce the Android series of phone to him, his heart moved hehehehe... >:)

since mobile carrier in Malaysia started to bring in Android phones and tied them up with attractive contracts, though not as attractive as it could have been if you compare them with the UK and US side... nevertheless it is still cheaper to source it from them... sigh***, so i recommended him a few phones to look at... HTC Desire, HTC Legend and Samsung Galaxy S...

among the 3 of them HTC Legend seems to have the best phone+mobile carrier deal under DiGi but then since he's a loyal Maxis customer, his eye is fixed on the HTC Desire... actually he loves the Samsung Galaxy S very very much but then it wasn't available in Malaysia yet, so HTC Desire was the one... after days of unlimited information gathering which includes forums digging and mobile phone reviewer site, he finally locked down to the HTC Desire... ;)

Facebook Destroying Marriage?

it's Sunday and i just read an article published on the Sunday Times on Facebook destroying marriage... the article was about cyber flirting which leads to cyber affair and finally cyber sex... the most interesting part on the article was that many of the recorded incidents are housewives with children went into Facebook for hours each day to flirt with guys which later found out by their husband and that leads to a divorce...

well many married husband also does the same thing i have to say but then the main point here is that on the real life incident qouted by the newspaper, the couples are happily married over 10 years (it was also quoted that the couples know each another for 12 years before their marriage) with a daughter until one day the husband found out that her wife were having an affair online with another guy via Facebook... the husband later filed a divorce with her wife and start a new life with his daughter...

hmm... sad huh???... a relationship which is almost 20 years gone due to Facebook...

Delicious & G-Six @ Mid Valley

after weeks of planning and trying to accommodate each another's calendar, finally we have decided and y'day was the day we had our so call decommissioned dinner at Delicious, Mid Valley... pretty sad huh... sigh***

since i'm the one who organized the event, i was pretty happy to see a full attandance of all my ex-team members... all of them were present y'day and we had a great dinner session... i guess over the years working together, our relationship has evolved from colleagues to frens and i do hope that our frenship will continues and last...

some of us then went on for a drink session at a club name G-Six which is located at Level 6, The Gardens... the ambience there was fantastic but then lacking some x-factor when compared to ZOUK (the KL ones), Coco Banana, The Opera and etc., etc.,... still we managed to finish up 7 jug of Carlsberg only to have auntie drunk liao and -ah david- vomitting at the plants nearby hahaha...

Seductive DELL Vostro V13

early this year, i convinced my 2nd sis to get the DELL Vostro V13 and she bought it before Chinese New Year this year... it was a fantastic piece of master piece from DELL at a very afordable price...

then 2 weeks ago, one of my colleagues (she was still a colleague of mine at that time hahaha) wanted to purchase the V13... i got to know about it and highly recommend that unit to her... few days ago, she got it and she's indeed very very happy with it... hahaha...

it's that seductive sleek piece of hardware that you indeed wanted to show it to everyone... ;)

Sametime Client 8.5 Installed ~ Finally

about a month ago, i managed to download the Lotus Sametime Client 8.5 from the internet but then it failed to be installed onto the laptop for some reason that i don't understand... not only that, but then in the process... i've also uninstall the version 8.0 which i've been using... zzzz...

so for the last 1 month plus, i've to basically downgrade myself back to the old and outdated Sametime Client 3.0 zzzz... pretty depressing huh??!!... but then yesterday, i tried reinstalling the 8.5 version once more and the result is still the same... it just failed and the log file is not understandable at all... not giving up, so i went thru that complex and difficult to read log file and found out that all the additional jar files needed are actually downloaded from the internet as the installation is running... and the problem is that the URL link to IBM site has been relocated, and that's the reason why the provisioning of the jar files failed...

i went over to the internet once more to test out the relocated site of IBM and found their new site which is called the Lotus Greenhouse... it's kinda of a site where once you've registered yourself in, you've access to most of their beta(s) program and this includes the Sametime Client 8.5 ;)

registration is a piece of cake and in no time i was downloading the file and this time i noticed that all the provisioning jar files are included in the download package... this means that it will no longer need to access the internet to download the jar files while installing... saves a lot of time during installation... and tada!... i'm on Sametime Client 8.5 now... ~cool~

you can access the Lotus Greenhouse here

New Role Starts Today ~ Officially

yesterday was 31st May 2010 and was the last day of my ex-team which will no longer exists... all of us says goodbye to each another and head off for our separate way but then we agreed to keep in touch all the time... well... in Facebook hahaha...

the senior of the team which i'll be joining from tomorrow and onwards also departed yesterday and will be heading her way back to the consultancy line... and i do really wish her all the best in her career... although i'm pretty sad to see her leaving the team i'm about to join... sad...

then i got another sad news as another colleague in my new team is also leaving for a new role???!!!... and this news, i got it from the mouth of another colleague in the offiz hahaha... see that's how the team dynamics are right now... sigh*** but then after a long chat with him, i understood his decision to move on and we also discussed about my new role and around the recent team dynamics...

well let's see how many of them will still be around 1 year from today...
